Product Introduction
The metallic magnesiumproduction lineA specialized rotary kiln designed according to dolomite's calcination behavior and the Pidgeon process needs for magnesium production. It serves as the central component in the dolomite calcination setup. Theproductsproduced by the rotary kiln has stable and uniform quality,high activityandExhibits minimal ignition loss, complies entirely with the Pidgeon process specifications for magnesium production, resulting in high magnesium recovery and silicon efficiency, thereby lowering overall metal magnesium output and consumption. Itis an ideal equipment for calcining dolomite in the magnesium industry.
The process of magnesium The smelting process involves raw material handling, dolomite calcination, grinding and pelletizing, reduction steps, and final purification. Dolomite is first fed into a crusher to achieve a consistent size (20–40mm), then heated in a rotary or vertical kiln to produce calcined white material. After calcination, it is cooled, pulverized using a ball mill, and compacted into pellets via a pressing machine. The calcined dolomite is further broken down and uniformly blended with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to create a paste-like mixture. This blend is introduced into a corrosion-resistant stainless steel reduction vessel, where it is heated in a furnace to temperatures between 1200–1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa. The resulting raw magnesium is then subjected to flux treatment, cast into ingots, and finished with surface finishing to produce final magnesium products.

A vertical cooling unit is positioned at the inlet of the rotary kiln, effectively harnessing the residual heat from the hot, whitened material to raise the secondary air temperature to 650°C, thus enhancing energy efficiency and delivering significant cost savings.
