Efficient Sand Regeneration Machine for Metal Foundries

The Attrition Scrubber Regenerator is an advanced sand recovery unit operating on mechanical wear and friction-based separation, engineered to eliminate leftover binder coatings (such as resins, silicates, or surface treatments) from spent foundry sand. It is commonly integrated into reclamation setups for no-bake resin sand, CO-silicate mixtures, and shell molds. By subjecting sand grains to vigorous rubbing, collisions, and shear forces between a rapidly spinning rotor and durable internal linings, particles undergo mechanical degradation, removing surface deposits. This process reactivates the quartz sand’s natural properties and ensures a clean surface, bringing Loss on Ignition (LOI) down to 0.5% or less—fully satisfying stringent demands of precision mixing operations.

This unit handles 3–30 tons per hour and is ideal for eco-friendly foundries, modernizing existing sand systems, or upgrading old reclamation setups. It connects seamlessly with crushers, coolers, screens, magnetic filters, and dust removal units to create a full sand recovery system, ensuring no waste is released and recycling efficiency reaches at least 95%—dramatically cutting down on virgin sand use and landfill expenses, enabling environmentally responsible production.

1.  Feeding Stage

Waste sand (commonly following shakeout or initial crushing) is evenly introduced into the regenerator using either a belt conveyor or bucket elevator. The sand must not exceed 60°C to prevent damage to machinery and improve recovery performance.

2. Attrition Regeneration Stage (Core Process)

Sand flows into a regeneration chamber built around a fast-spinning rotor and durable inner walls. The rotor boosts sand speed, leading to strong collisions and friction with the walls. At the same time, grains experience high-stress interactions—cutting, scraping, and rolling—removing layers from the sintered outer coatings. This method is entirely dry—no water or additives involved—resulting in low energy use and minimal environmental impact.

3.  Discharge & Dust Control

Regenerated sand flows steadily from the lower discharge point into subsequent stages involving cooling, sieving, and magnetic separation. The sealed system features a pulse jet cartridge filter that effectively traps particulates, achieving emission levels of no more than 5 mg/m³—meeting national regulatory requirements.

4. Intelligent Monitoring System

Optional vibration sensors, temperature sensors, and current monitoring enable real-time equipment status tracking, preventing overload or abnormal wear for long-term reliability.
