The drilling of a gear reducer housing focuses on creating mounting holes and lubrication channels. Using CNC machining centers, operators first secure the cast iron or steel housing. Precision drill bits then create bolt holes for assembly and foundation mounting. Additionally, deep hole drilling techniques are employed to form internal oil passages, ensuring effective lubrication to all critical gears and bearings during operation.

The pre-turned worm wheel blank is ready for gear generation. The custom hob, designed to match the mating worm, is mounted on the hobbing machine. The process will synchronize the rotation of the blank and the hob to precisely cut the required tooth profile into the wheel, ensuring optimal meshing with the worm shaft.

With the dedicated worm wheel hob now available, machining of the gear pair begins. The worm shaft undergoes thread cutting or grinding, while the wheel blank is set up for hobbing. The focus is on achieving precise synchronization of the lead angles and tooth profiles between the worm and wheel for efficient power transmission.

This step prepares the bevel gear blanks for final tooth grinding. The internal bore and critical external datum surfaces are precision-ground on a cylindrical grinder. Establishing these accurate reference surfaces is essential to ensure the subsequent gear teeth are ground in perfect concentric alignment with the gear's axis.
