Sourcing agent

You post one buying request.
It works the request until you close it.

The agent searches, contacts suppliers, and collects quotes around the clock. It records what suppliers offer. It never agrees to anything for you.

Five quotes side by side, two decisions to make

It isn't a chatbot. It's tied to one request.

Everything the agent does comes from the buying request you posted. That request is its brief, its limit, and its expiry date. Turn it on per request, not per account.

Buying request #4192 Agent assist on
Your request is the brief
Product Jasmine rice, 5% broken
Volume 2 FCL minimum, monthly
Destination Rotterdam, EU
Certifications ISO 22000, EU export history
Target price Under $1,250/t
Terms preferred CIF Rotterdam · T/T 30%
Everything the agent searches, sends and asks comes from these six fields.
Your request is the limit
Inside the brief, it acts. Screens suppliers, sends inquiries, asks for missing MOQ, incoterm, lead time, validity.
edge of the brief
? Outside it, it asks you first. A different grade, a changed incoterm, a term you never stated — the question comes to you.
“3% broken instead?” → asks you
“FOB instead of CIF?” → recorded, flagged off-spec
“T/T 50% advance?” → asks you
Close it and everything stops
No searching, no messages, no exceptions — and assist is per request, so your other requests are untouched.

01 — Search

First, it builds your shortlist.

It reads your specs and screens the supplier base against them — product type, volume capability, export market, certifications, target price. What you get is a shortlist, not a search results page.

Sourcing agent · buying request #4192

Screened 214 suppliers against your request. 9 match on volume, certification and destination market. Excluded 43 that can't ship to the EU and 17 below your 2 FCL minimum.

9 shortlisted ISO 22000 verified EU export history
02 — Outreach

Then it goes and asks.

It sends the inquiry to every shortlisted supplier. If the shortlist is thin, it posts your request to the wider marketplace so suppliers you haven't found yet can come to you.

03 — While you're offline

It keeps the conversation alive.

Suppliers rarely send a complete quote first time. Instead of the thread going quiet until your morning, the agent chases the missing fields — so what's waiting for you is comparable, not half-finished.

Jasmine rice 5% broken, USD 1,180 per tonne. We can ship next month.
Sourcing agent · 02:14
Thanks — noting USD 1,180/t. To put this beside other quotes I need three things: incoterm and port, MOQ, and how long the price holds.
Golden Rice Co. · 02:31
FOB Ho Chi Minh, 2 FCL minimum, valid 14 days.

Recorded. Your request prefers CIF Rotterdam, so I've flagged the difference for the buyer rather than confirming it.
04 — The line it won't cross

It records. It doesn't agree.

This is the distinction the whole product rests on. Confirming that it has noted a supplier's terms is not the same as accepting them — and the agent only ever does the first, even when the supplier's terms match your request exactly.

It says

“Recorded: FOB Ho Chi Minh, T/T 30% advance. I'll pass this to the buyer for review.”

It never says

“FOB works for us, let's go ahead on those payment terms.”

Suppliers are told plainly that they're talking to your agent. No one is left thinking they've closed something with you.

05 — When it's unsure

It stops and asks you.

If a supplier raises something your request doesn't cover, the agent doesn't improvise. It brings the question to you, and you choose how to handle it.

Golden Rice Co. is offering 3% broken at USD 1,310/t as an alternative. Your request only covers 5% broken. Do you want quotes on this grade too?

Answer once, not nine times

Whatever you decide is written back into your buying request, so every supplier after this one gets the same answer without asking. The longer a request runs, the less it needs you.

Questions buyers ask

Will suppliers know they're talking to an agent?

Yes. Every thread the agent works in carries a visible label — "Agent replying on your behalf" — and the agent states plainly in its first message that it is writing for the buyer. Suppliers know their answers are being recorded for you to review, and nothing they read suggests you have replied in person.

No. The agent's job stops at collecting and confirming what a supplier has said. It can ask which price basis a quote uses, ask for a missing field, or mention the terms your request prefers as a reference — but it never negotiates, never states that a price or term is acceptable, and never commits to volumes, dates, or payment. Accepting any term is always your action, taken by you.

It stops and brings the question to you — a different grade, a changed incoterm, a term your request never covered. You can answer through the agent, which then replies to the supplier for you, or step into the thread and handle it yourself while the agent keeps notes. Either way your answer is written back into the request, so the next supplier gets it without asking.

The agent stops the moment you switch it off or close the request: no new searching, no new inquiries, no further replies. Open threads are closed politely so no supplier is left waiting, every conversation is handed back to you with its full history, and a final summary of what was collected lands in your inbox.
