Freshdi Market Insight

Make smarter Sugar sourcing decisions with real market data

Indonesia (15.6%) leads the 553 Sugar suppliers, followed by India (9.2%) and Brazil (6.9%), with supply spread across 73 countries. The typical range is USD 379 - 473 per metric ton FOB, centered at a USD 416 median, which means buyers should expect pricing to vary within that band depending on origin and quality. Buyer inquiries fell 84.9% to 323 in the last 30 days. CIF demand outpaces supply by 16 percentage points, meaning buyers often request CIF terms even when suppliers only offer FOB — a price must be explicitly requested in CIF.

553 suppliers are actively selling Sugar on the platform, offering a broad range of options for buyers to compare. This spread means buyers can source from a range of origins, helping to mitigate risks related to trade policies, supply disruptions, or quality variations tied to a single region. Buyer inquiries dropped 84.9% in the last 30 days — a sharp decline that suggests reduced demand or market uncertainty. While this may mean fewer immediate opportunities, it also implies suppliers are likely under lower pressure, potentially opening space for new buyers to engage with them.

Methodology

How the numbers on this page are produced, and what they do not cover.

Source

Every figure comes from Sugar listings, supplier quotes and buyer requests posted on Freshdi in the 365 days to 3 October 2026 - 2,197 active listings, 595 buyer requests, 478 source documents, and 3,630 supply observations from the last 90 days. External export benchmarks are cited separately and never mixed into Freshdi figures.

How ranges are read

Price and MOQ ranges are the interquartile range - the middle half of quotes, a quarter below and a quarter above - with the median reported alongside. A Sugar type is priced only once it holds at least 5% of supply price quotes and 3 priced listings with a real range; below that it is not listed. Buyer prices are compared only once there are at least 5 of them.

One basis only

All prices are FOB, in USD per metric ton; quotes on other Incoterms are converted to a FOB equivalent. Freshdi does not hold a CIF price series for Sugar, so no landed-cost comparison is possible from this data.

Gaps in percentage points

Demand-versus-supply differences in trade and payment term shares are stated in percentage points, and origin rows add buyer requests per listing. Each figure carries its market scope - global - beside the number rather than in a footnote.

What counts as what

Product freshness counts listings created or updated. Supplier activity counts sellers by their last update. The two are different measurements and will not agree.

Update cadence

Freshdi reprocesses market data every hour, with one snapshot a day for trends. This page's figures, certification coverage included, refresh every 7 days on a rolling 365-day window.
