Unlike the classic, bitter Myrrh (C. myrrha), Hagar is prized for its sweet, balsam-like, and fruity aroma.

Opoponax (often Commiphora guidottii or C. erythraea) is a fragrant, reddish-yellow resin from African shrubs, known as "sweet myrrh". It has a warm, balsamic, sweet, and earthy aroma with celery-like undertones. Primarily used in perfumery as a base note and in incense, it acts as a fixative, adding woody, ambery, and sensual notes to fragrances.
