It is soluble in water, acids, and alkalis, but insoluble in alcohol. The aqueous solution is acidic and has a sour and astringent taste. It begins to decompose when heated to 530°C and the decomposition is completed at 860°C. The final decomposition product is r-AL₂O₃.
Application fields
