Eucalyptus globulus essential oil

Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is extracted from the stock of the tall flowering trees part of Eucalyptus blue gum tree, of the Myrtle family (Myrtaceae), from fresh leaves and twigs through the process of steam distillation.

Identification:

Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is a yellow to pale yellow liquid, with an aromatic characteristic odour of Cineole, and with a somewhat harsh, camphoraceous odour, and woody sweet undertone. The active component(s) in a typical oil sample are: 1,8-Cineole (min 60%), α-Pinene (10 – 22%), α-Phellandrene (0.1 – 1%), Limonene (1 – 8%), ρ-Cimene(1 – 2%), trans-Pinocarveol(1 – 6%), Aromadendrene(1 – 10%), and Globulol(0.5 – 1.5%).

Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is a herbal extract/product. The oil helps to treat pulmonary tuberculosis, diabetes and asthma as an ingredient in medicinal goods. It is a great disinfectant, antioxidant agent, and antiseptic agent. The essential oil has great antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, wound-healing, anxiolytic properties.

1,8-cineole has mucolytic and spasmolytic action on the respiratory tract, with proven clinical efficacy. 1,8-

cineole has also shown therapeutic benefits in inflammatory airway diseases, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

α-Pinene possesses potent anti-inflammatory effects, which could impact diseases like arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. Also, due to its impact as a bronchodilator, pinene may help manage symptoms related to bronchitis, asthma, and even COPD.

α-Phellandrene helps to increase energy levels, reduce pain, and as an anti-cancer. In addition, it a common additive in cosmetic products and perfumes due to its pleasing aroma, and easy absorption in the skin.

Limonene is beneficial for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-stress, and possibly disease-preventing properties. It has great anti-cancer properties, according to clinical trials.

How to Use:

Aromatherapy: Eucalyptus globulus essential oil helps to relieve mental exhaustion by boosting blood circulation to the brain. Carrier oils are vegetable oils which reduce help the oil get into the skin, reducing the concentration without reducing potency. For every 15-30 drops of essential oil, use at least 10ml of carrier oil (Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil are excellent local options of carrier oils). Blend with carrier oil of choice prior to massage to minimize any skin sensitivity.

Use for washing toilet bowls, floors, countertops, and windows, just to name a few surfaces. The clean scent makes an effective fabric freshener, and it can be mixed with Lemon or Tea Tree essential oils, diluted with water, then applied to odorous materials such as the insides of shoes. Furthermore, as an air cleanser, Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is beneficial for eliminating mould that could contribute to respiratory issues.
