Our vanilla pods are hand-picked and carefully sun dried to preserve their strong flavour and aroma. They are widely used for culinary purposes, adding a warm, spicy note to dishes. 2-DESCRIPTION

Vanilla pods are the long, slender seed pods of the vanilla orchid, characterized by a dark brown, leathery skin with a soft, supple, and often oily surface. They are highly aromatic, with a rich, sweet flavour that comes from both the pod and the tiny seeds inside, and are used in cooking to infuse a wide variety of dishes with natural vanilla flavour.

Botanic Name: Vanilla Planifolia – Bourbon Vanilla – 12 to 20 cm length

Origin: Comoros

Category: Cat.1: 35% max - Uniform dark chocolate brown

Cat.2: 35% max - Dark chocolate brown, light brown to reddish

Cat.3: 30% max - Reddish colour

Cat.4: 25%max - Reddish colour

Moisture content: 17% to 35%

Cat.1 & 2: 35% max – Cat.3: 30% max – Cat.4: 25% max

Cut and bulk vanilla: 30% max

Vanilla powder: 20% max

Vanillin content: 1,8% to 2,4%

Storage: The packs of vanilla shall be stored in well designated premises, protected from the sun, rain and excessive heat. The ventilation shall be controlled so as to give good air circulation under dry conditions and to be fully closed under damp conditions.

Pods in Cat.1, 2 and 3 are available in Split and Non-Split
