Mature coconut is a fully ripened coconut, typically harvested around 11 to 12 months after flowering. It has thick, firm white flesh and less water compared to young coconuts. The flesh is rich in healthy fats like lauric acid, which supports energy and immune health. From this mature meat, coconut oil can be extracted and is widely used for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, especially in skin and hair care. It’s also processed into coconut milk, a creamy ingredient commonly used in cooking. Even the leftover pulp is useful, often used in baking or as animal feed. While the water from mature coconuts is less sweet, it still contains valuable minerals and electrolytes.
