Fuel Cell Business With more than 10 years of research experience, GS Caltex is actively involved in the development of fuel cells for residential and commercial buildings, while expanding its research to fuel cell system for home and hydrogen stations for fuel cell automobiles. Fuel cell is a sustainable form of energy created through electrochemical processes between oxygen and hydrogen, which generate power efficiently without harmful pollutants. To address critical resource and environmental problems. GS FuelCell, GS Caltex's subsidiary specializing in fuel cell development, is leading the fuel cell research and development. Through continuous effort, GS FuelCell has successfully produced 1kW fuel cell system for residences using natural gas and 5kW fuel cell combined heat and power, and then these fuel cell systems are commercialized in 2010. Energy revolution technology Since the beginning of fuel cell research in1989, GS Caltex has focused on advancing technological ability and gaining knowledge about petroleum byproduct's effects on the environment. GS FuelCell is now leaping into the new energy business for future energy use, resulting in successful development and the first domestic mass-production of fuel cell systems in 2010. In addition, GS Caltex is expanding its research into hydrogen stations in order to prepare for the commercialization of fuel cell automobiles. In September 2007, GS Caltex introduced the first hydrogen station in Korea for consumer use, and currently running it with conducting further tests.
