Teakwood Door Frames

Common Varieties and Grades

Teakwood used in door frames is typically sourced from mature teak trees harvested sustainably. Common grades include A, B, and C, where Grade A teakwood represents the highest quality with minimal defects, uniform color, and tight grains. Variations in teakwood can feature natural oils, which enhance resistance to rot and pests.

Key Characteristics

• Durability: Teakwood is highly resistant to warping, shrinking, and swelling due to changes in humidity.
• Natural Oils: The oily grain makes teak naturally resistant to moisture, termites, and fungal attacks.
• Strength: A dense hardwood, teak offers excellent structural integrity ideal for door frames subjected to constant use.
• Appearance: Featuring a beautiful golden brown to dark brown shade, teak develops a distinguished patina with age.

Common Applications

Teakwood door frames are widely used in various settings, including high-end residential homes, commercial buildings, hotels, and heritage restoration projects. Their reliability and classy appearance complement a variety of door styles including paneled, flush, glass, and carved doors.

Harvesting and Production Process

Teak trees are carefully harvested typically from sustainable plantations or controlled forests. The logs are seasonally dried and treated for stability before being precision milled into door frame components. Skilled craftsmen often tailor the frames to specifications for seamless integration and long service life.

Quality and Grading Standards

Teak door frames undergo stringent grading based on grain uniformity, presence of knots, surface smoothness, and dimensional stability. Only those meeting high standards of structural soundness and visual appeal are qualified for premium door frame applications.

Packaging and Export Considerations

The teakwood door frames are generally packaged with protective wrapping and cushioning to safeguard finish and form during shipping. Export shipments comply with international phytosanitary regulations to prevent pest contamination. Packaging also ensures easy handling and reduces the risk of damage during transit.
