Business Description

Seafood from Scotland has the highest of reputations around the world, praised for its high quality, provenance, sustainability and not forgetting its amazing taste.

AM Shellfish supply live shellfish including;
Brown Crab, Cockles, Lobster, Prawns, Razor Clams, Scallops, Velvet Crab and Winkles.

Situated in Aberdeen, AM Shellfish are specialists in the supply and export of superior quality shellfish caught off the east & west coast of Scotland.

Our catch lands on Sunday or Monday departing on Monday night heading south to catch a ferry headed for Spain ready to be sold on Thursday.

The shellfish is transported in our specially designed refrigerated Vivier lorry to provide the shellfish with conditions very similar to their natural habitat. Our lorry has built in tanks which are filled with seawater and are all fitted out with donkey engines, pumps and electric motors which keep a steady flow of oxygen into the water keeping the shellfish alive while on route to the market.

The broad term ‘shellfish’ covers crustacean and mollusc seafood, which includes clams, crab, lobsters and langoustines. Shellfish offer a real taste of the ocean and are bursting with flavour. They are surprisingly simple to prepare and cook. At AM Shellfish we source our fish and shellfish locally, delivering across the UK to bring you some of the best and freshest shellfish possible.

Products like brown crab, lobster and prawns are all hand caught by creel and not by trawler. This is a much more environmentally friendly method of catching shellfish as the process doesn't disturb the seabed, keeping the natural balance in situ.

Cancer Pagurus, commonly known as the edible crab or brown crab, is a species of crab found in the North Sea, North Atlantic Ocean. It is a robust crab of a reddish-brown colour, having an oval carapace with a characteristic "pie crust" edge and black tips to the claws. A mature adult may have a carapace width of up to 25cm and weigh up to 3 kg.

A cockle is a small, edible, saltwater clam, a marine bivalve mollusc. Although many small edible bivalves are loosely called cockles, true cockles are species in the family Cardiidae. True cockles live in sandy, sheltered beaches throughout the world. The distinctive rounded shells are bilaterally symmetrical, and are heart-shaped when viewed from the end.

Homarus Gammarus, known as the European lobster or common lobster, is a species of clawed lobster from the eastern Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and parts of the Black Sea. It is closely related to the American lobster, H. Americanus. It may grow to a length of 60 cm and a mass of 6 kilograms, and bears a conspicuous pair of claws. In life, the lobsters are blue, only becoming "lobster red" on cooking.

Nephrops Norvegicus, known variously as the Norway lobster, Dublin Bay prawn, langoustine or scampi, is a slim, orange-pink lobster which grows up to 25 cm long, and is "the most important commercial crustacean in Europe". It lives in the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean, and parts of the Mediterranean Sea, but is absent from the Baltic Sea and Black Sea.

Razor Clams (also known as razorshell, razor clam and common or pod razorfish) are an edible shellfish which are found around the coasts of Britain and Ireland. They are so called because they look like an old fashioned cut throat razor.

Most suppliers in international trade have at least one verified contact point — like a work email or phone — to build trust with buyers. A M Shellfish Limited shows no verification in work email, account email, phone, or business documents, which raises red flags about legitimacy and responsiveness. This lack of verification makes it harder for buyers to confirm the company's real identity or ensure they're dealing with the right team. Without verified contact details, buyers may hesitate to place large orders or share sensitive requirements. While some small suppliers operate without full verification, it's a common risk factor that can delay or prevent business development. Buyers should request additional proof or ask for a formal business document before engaging with A M Shellfish Limited.
