In July and August 2024, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) in partnership with Indonesia’s Directorate-General of Surveillance and Control of Marine and Fishery Resources successfully delivered two educational workshops to fishing communities in Oesapa and Papela in the East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia.

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) continues to collaborate with the Northern Territory Police Force (NTPOL) and indigenous rangers to detect and deter illegal fishers from entering Australia’s remote coastline.

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) reminds Commonwealth operators with electronic monitoring (EM) systems of their responsibility to ensure that systems are fully operational before departing port to undertake a fishing trip.
