“I’ve never really experienced where everyone, small, medium, or large company, comes together with an attitude of the rising tide rises all boats. And we all come here to rise that tide and rise the industry in general because we’re so passionate about our industry and the impact that we can have.”
Melissa Sherman, PhD

Yvonne Linney
Board Member, Sengenics and Bionano Genomics

Benefits of Membership
Membership is open to companies with a life science, analytical, and diagnostics technology business.
These companies include manufacturers and suppliers of:
ALDA meetings, market data, and surveys are tailored specifically for CEOs, presidents, and senior executives of member companies.
Please read: ALDA Membership Segments & Qualifications
Download a summary of ALDA benefits or a high-level overview of benefits.
We ask that all members adhere to our Code of Conduct: ALDA’s powerful network offers opportunities for connection and collaboration within our industry. By joining ALDA, I agree to uphold and preserve the unique nature of this executive network by refraining from overtly soliciting sales for my company’s products or services to other members.
Your annual dues should be calculated on your worldwide “analytical and life science systems” and “diagnostics” business revenues for the most recent business year of the member, its divisions, business units and subsidiaries.
In addition to the annual dues members pay registration fees for attendees at some meetings. For most member companies that is estimated to average between $5-7K USD per year.
“Diagnostics” business refers to revenues from: molecular diagnostics; companion diagnostics; and emerging and next generation diagnostic technologies such as cellular diagnostics.
ALDA meetings, market data, and surveys are directed to CEOs, presidents, and members of their senior executive teams. Most members agree that the most important membership benefit is the opportunity to regularly meet, have dialog, and develop strategic business relationships with others.
We offer the opportunity to connect the industry and its leaders and are glad to assist in making introductions between one member company and another.
Semi-annual conferences focus on timely topics and feature world-class speakers who offer strategic insights into trends, emerging technologies, and new markets. Leading business-school academics and industry consultants provide keynote presentations.
The Spring Conference is typically held in Boston on the first Sunday-Tuesday in May and our Fall Conference is typically held on the West Coast on the first Sunday-Tuesday in October.
ALDA has hosted two international conferences: the Fall 2022 Conference in Zurich, Switzerland, and the Spring 2024 Conference in London, England. We’ll return to Zurich for the Fall 2025 Conference.

Recent ALDA Semi-Annual Conferences Topics:
ALDA meetings offer opportunities to make valuable contacts and engage in dialogue. Increase your company’s visibility and gain valuable industry connections for business partnerships, OEM and sales opportunities, strategic investment, and mergers and acquisitions.
In addition, trade show events and annual dinner meetings on both coasts make it easy to network with other industry executives, customers, and international organizations.
ALDA sponsors four market data reports.
1. The Industry Market Assessment Report is published quarterly and sent to all ALDA members. The cost is included in your annual dues. The report contains a high-level overview of the global market and 15 product/market segments and is designed to complement your internal market research. Official and alternate representatives automatically receive this report.
The following three reports are available only to participants:
2. The Global Lab Instruments Bookings Report tracks global bookings (orders) on a quarterly basis for about a dozen laboratory analytical instrument systems including LC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS, UV/Vis, AA, FTIR, and ICP products. ALDA jointly sponsors this report with instrument associations in Japan and Europe.
3. The Microplate Reader Sales Report tracks global sales on a semi-annual basis for three categories of microplate reader products: single-mode microplate readers, multi-mode microplate readers, and washers.
4. The Bio-Research Reagents Market Report tracks sales on a semi-annual basis for several categories of life science reagents and consumables. The report is offered on a subscription basis through the ABA Audits firm in the UK, and ALDA subsidizes a portion of the participation fee for our members.
Annually, ALDA members are invited to participate in the Pearl Meyer CHiPS One World Total Compensation Survey at a discounted rate.
The CHiPs One World survey reports positions based on salary, short-term and long-term incentives, total cash/target and direct compensation, and global merit increases.
Participants receive an all-participants report, a custom peer group report, and an ALDA-only report, along with a full year of 24/7 access to CHiPs online with free on-demand features.
The CHiPS One World also offers one-to-one account support through their dedicated team of account managers. This customized approach allows ALDA members to go beyond the data to understand how the survey results apply to their organization and its unique compensation needs.
Along with our partners at Pearl Meyer, ALDA offered its first Diversity & Inclusion Benchmarking Survey in 2021. More than 45 member companies participated and submitted representation data for a total of more than 300,000 employees in our industry. ALDA incorporated those results into our Strategic Plan, as D&I continues to be an important focus moving forward.
ALDA’s 2023 D&I Benchmarking Survey again collected data on diversity in the workplace as well as diversity and inclusion practices. Forty-two companies participated with representation data on 385,000 employees worldwide.
ALDA plans to conduct another Benchmarking Survey in 2026.
If you are interested in learning more about the association or if you are ready to join, please contact Kerrie Peterson, Director of Membership.

Officers & Board of Directors
ALDA (Analytical, Life Science & Diagnostics Association) is a non-profit industry trade association for global companies that develop and market products and services used in life science research, drug discovery, QA/QC and food testing, and clinical and molecular diagnostics.
ALDA’s meetings, data, and programs are directed to C-suite executives, presidents, and senior executives of our member companies to help them develop business strategies to grow their businesses.
Member companies range from the industry’s largest suppliers to medium-size and small pre-product companies. Together, our analytical and life science members account for more than 70 percent of the industry’s global revenues. Our diagnostics members manufacture and supply molecular diagnostics, companion diagnostics, and emerging and next-generation diagnostic technologies.
ALDA is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA.
ALDA members participate in the over $140 billion life science, analytical & diagnostics tools market. Participating companies supply instrumentation, reagents, consumables, assays, and related services for life science research, drug discovery, food safety, QA & QC testing along with clinical and diagnostics testing.
Having deep insights in the life sciences enables ALDA members to connect life science research to clinical diagnostics and brings diagnostic solutions faster to market. This enables better diagnostics and helps more patients throughout the world.

Diversity & Inclusion Surveys
ALDA connects our members with unique industry insights. We offer a suite of market data reporting, compensation surveys, and D&I benchmarking for members and their companies to leverage.
All of ALDA’s surveys are conducted by third-party, neutral partners, so your data is always private. With questions about our suite of market data and surveys, please contact us.
Along with our third-party partners, ALDA produces five market data reports that our members use to benchmark operations against industry data and averages and broaden their perspective on global users and markets.
These reports provide valuable insight independent of one another; they are each separate, nuanced reports. Examples of staff at ALDA member companies who find these reports valuable are data scientists, market intelligence strategists, and global commercial forecasting managers.
