AMC-SCHOU's history started in the early part of last century. Aarhus Motor Company was established in 1925 as a Ford car dealer in the centre of Aarhus. The need for specialised machines for the reconditioning of combustion engines arose and in 1938 production of the first machines was started. After successful export sales, a separate company, Aarhus Machine Company (AMC) was established in 1951.AMC continued with the design, production and sales of crankshaft grinding machines, cylinder block boring and milling machines and cylindrical grinding machines etc. In 1980 Aarhus Motor Company closed down due to a recession in the car business but AMC continued as a separate company.In 1998, AMC-SCHOU AS moved to new, purpose-built, premises covering 9,000 m2 in Galten, 20 km west of Aarhus.
