I oversee the North America Lab Service groups that produce data (our ‘product’) for customers via the Flex-Seq and Capture-Seq NGS workflows, as well as assist with the Amp-Seq tGBS pilot program. Along with our colleagues in Berlin, we partner with diverse groups in the organization (Commercial, Product Management, and the Innovation Hub) to deliver data with speed, accuracy, and consistency.
Several of our customers utilize the data we generate to advance their breeding programs, whether it is plant or animal based. In part, this data contributes to decisions these organizations make that ultimately help secure food supply in dynamic environments.
What is something you value about working at LGC?
The diversity within LGC is phenomenal. I mean that in the broadest sense: global colleagues, customers, offerings from the organization, and exciting work opportunities vary within my day-to-day activities. I’ve learned so much since I joined the organization… and I can’t wait to learn more!
In my role, I oversee the production, testing, and assessment reports for all chemistry-related proficiency test materials offered by LGC. Proficiency testing is a crucial pillar for laboratories worldwide to ensure accurate testing. My responsibility is to identify areas where laboratories may be underperforming, allowing them to address issues promptly. This independent review is essential to guarantee the safety of the food we consume, the toys our children play with, and the air we breathe—things that most people take for granted.
What are you most proud of regarding your work at LGC?
I am most proud of the sheer diversity in the range of areas that LGC covers. This allows me the opportunity to be involved in a wide array of technical areas that most people never get to be part of, and it’s good knowing that we can make a difference in these areas. One thing at LGC is that it’s never a dull day with new areas being introduced all the time.
I am an expert in the involvement of people and communities in health and care research. As an Assistant Director at the Grant Management Group, I have a key role in ensuring that diverse citizens can work in successful partnership with funders and with the funded research, both in the UK and in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
I undertake extensive engagements across NHS trusts, governments, multinational agencies, academia, civil society among others, both in the UK and LMICs, co-creating structures and redesigning solutions for effective public member involvement in research and service delivery, maximising research investment.

As the Production Director for the Environment, Food, and Forensics sector, I oversee the production of high-quality (certified) Reference Materials across various LGC sites. My collaboration within the LGC Group aims to elevate our product quality and significantly increase throughput. In my current role, I ensure that we maintain the same high-quality standards at all sites within the EFF sector.
