Applied Minerals Inc., formerly Atlas Mining Company is the owner and operator of the Dragon Mine Halloysite Clay deposit in Eureka Utah. Halloysite is an Aluminasilicate Clay that forms naturally occurring Nanotubes. Traditional uses of this clay have been for manufacturing of fine china and porcelain as well as in petroleum cracking catalyst supports. The novel applications are for use as a green functional filler for reinforcement in plastic composites, as a micro-carrier of active ingredients used in pharmaceuticals, anti fouling/mold/corrosion paints & coatings, agricultural pesticides/fertilizers, catalysts, molecular sieves, cosmetics and fuel cells. In addition to Halloysite, Applied Minerals Inc. offers high purity Hematite and Goethite Iron Oxide Ore as well as well ordered Kaolinite as secondary products obtained from the mining of our Halloysite.
