International Brain Bee

The Neuroscience Competition for Teens

The 2024 IBB World Championship took place virtually (September 27 to October 5) in conjunction with Neuroscience 2024 (the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience) in Chicago, Illinois, on October 5-9. It brought together teenage students from all corners of the globe for an engaging competition and an educational social program. To be eligible for the World Championship, each participant must have previously won the highest level of Brain Bee competition in their country. 

Starting in 2024, the IBB will host two annual events – a virtual World Championship and a subsequent new in-person Champions event (IBB NextGen). The top five winners of the 2023 IBB World Championship participated in the inaugural NextGen event at the FENS Forum in Vienna, Austria, in June 2024.

The 2023 IBB World Championship was held virtually, in conjunction with the American Psychological (APA) Convention 2023 in Washington, DC, on July 31-5 August.  National Brain Bee champions from around the world came together for an exciting competition and educational social program.

The International Brain Bee was founded in 1998 by Dr. Norbert Myslinski with a mission to build better brains to fight brain disorders. Since its inception, the International Brain Bee has inspired thousands of students to study and pursue careers in neuroscience. The International Brain Bee promotes student engagement with neuroscience through a three-tiered competition: students start by signing up for a Local Brain Bee, the winners of which compete in their country’s National Brain Bee. Every year, National Brain Bees send one representative to compete at the IBB World Championship.
