Business Description
Our story began with a vision: exceptional shellfish, farmed in harmony with the environment. In 1991, oceanologist Sergio Guevara turned that vision into reality by establishing the first offshore Mediterranean Mussel Farm in North America.
Today, as Baja Shellfish Farms, we continue this legacy. Driven by a commitment to uncompromising quality, we've become a leader in premium shellfish production…
Georgia Native and Michelin-starred chef, Drew Deckman; is a BSF Ambassador aligning with our sustainable practices and featuring our products on all of his three restaurants, two of which have become Michelin-starred.
Extraordinary French born and trained Executive Chef and restaurateur, Olhats has won many awards during his 27 years on Newport Beach, California, where BSF's shellfish are brilliantly prepared in all his restaurants.

Within the Ojo de Liebre Biosphere Reserve, Laguna Guerrero Negro thrives. Federally protected, this ecosystem boasts exceptional productivity. Strong upwelling currents create a haven of food, nurturing diverse shellfish - our oysters are a testament to Laguna Guerrero Negro's pristine state.
Whales Cove (Rincón de Ballenas) is located in the southern end of Todos Santos Bay in Northern Baja California just south of the Ensenada Mexico. Our mussel farm location receives the full influence of the Pacific Ocean and is the first off shore mussel farm in North America. Ocean grown Mediterranean Mussels are preferred in Europe for the full rich flavor and clean ocean aroma. This is what makes Whales Cove Mediterranean Mussels unique.
The proximity to Ensenada and our processing facility allows us to use this growing area as an open ocean wet storage location for both Kumiai Oysters and Baja Venus clams. This gives us a special advantage of harvesting and delivering the freshest possible products to our customers.
Baja Venus clams come from the Upper Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez, in Mexico. They live in shallow bays with big tidal flats that stretch for miles. These areas are part of a special protected zone called a biosphere reserve, which means human activity is limited to keep the environment healthy.
Baja Venus Clams are harvested by hand to protect the natural habitat of the ecosystem.
