Our wines are born from an adventure that links France to Mexico. Henri Lurton, owner of the Grand Cru Classé, Château Brane-Cantenac in Margaux, with the support of his eldest sons, Vincent and Nicolas, has placed a confident bid on Baja California. He is convinced of its winemaking potential, the warmth of it’s people and the generosity of the land.

The winemaker Lourdes Martinez Ojeda, after working for almost 10 years at Château Brane-Cantenac, is returning to her hometown of Ensenada to bridge the divide between France and Mexico.

At Bodegas Henri Lurton we seek to faithfully convey nature’s bounty and the Baja terroir, uniting it with our mestizo vision that is based around tradition and authenticity.

Made with grapes from centenary vines from the Santo Tomas vineyard in Valle de Guadalupe; Pressed on a Bucher Inertys pneumatic grape press under controlled atmosphere to guarantee our pressed juices are extracted without oxidation of aromas and color and integrally fermented in new 500L French oak barrels so as to have a more subtle aroma with refined and elegant wood hints. Our Chenin Centenario 2015 is aged on lees for 10 months.

Rich golden robe with an intense and complex bouquet. This Chenin, fermented and aged in French barrels, has a large palette of flavors: honey, white truffle, quince, bitter orange, hazelnut, floral notes. The palate is as rich and fine as the nose, with a lacey and elegant feel, an excellent acidity and an extra long aromatic finish. This is a special wine for special occasions.

Our Sauvignon Blanc is made with grapes from Rincon de Guadalupe in the Valley of San Vicente. Pressed on Bucher Inertys pneumatic grape press under controlled atmosphere to guarantee our pressed juices are extracted without oxidation of aromas and color along with a cold pre-fermentative maceration to enhance the wine's aromatic component. Fermented and aged at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks.

Clean pale robe with a discrete and elegant nose. Notes of grapefruit and jasmin with a hint of minerality and cassis buds, gives it an extra layer of aromatic richness. Great freshness and balance in the palate with a clean, long aromatic end. A precise, crisp and pure wine.

Fermented and aged at low temperatures in Apollo Flextanks with porous polymers which allow for the passage of oxygen equivalent to the contribution of a new barrel for more volume and character to the Chenin’s profile, respecting the fruit aromas.
