John is not afraid of hard work. While working full-time for the Michigan DNR, John started a small business with his wife Teresa and served as vice-chair of the Flint Charter Commission. There were many weeks where he would put in 60-80 hours between all three. In each case he delivered quality products. From day one of holding office, John has been an advocate for the citizens of the 49th House District, bringing millions of dollars in investments to Genesee County, and helping thousands of constituents with everyday problems. As our state senator, he’ll fight and work just as hard.

Talk to people who work with John and they will tell you that he has a reputation as someone who finds ways to make things happen. From day one, John has stepped up and has worked to solve problems in our community. Through talks with state agency leads, John secured a sound wall study along the I-475 & I-69 interchange. He also championed the economic development programs that recently secured $7 billion dollars of investment into Michigan communities from General Motors.

As state representative, John Cherry has been a leader in manufactured housing regulation reform, strengthening conservation in Michigan, and improving worker protections. He’s hosted dozens of community events, townhalls, and panels, remaining accessible to his constituents even as he works to solve tough problems in Lansing.
