With its head office geographically located in Trivandrum, Kerala, the long-established and time-honoured family concern ever since its inception has grown by leaps and bounds. Since its inception in 1994, Grandmas Food Products has grown extensively to prove its stand in the competitive food industry today and attained a niche throughout the globe within a short span of time. It took months of research and studies, to conceptualize and develop the product – Ponkathir. Here we blend the traditional methods with 18 types of 5 high grade rice compositions to bring out the best product. Purity and quality is tested and confirmed at every stage of production. Superior raw materials are procured from high quality vendors. The rice is disinfected before grinding it and is fried in 'traditional ovens' or 'Smokeless Chulahs' using firewood. This traditional process of slow cooking preserves the nutrients in the rice particles. Began in 2010 in a simpler informal way before becoming the Convenience Store in Alappuzha. The entrepreneur and creator initiated AVS Ruchi Products was a homemaker then. She was inspired to be food products supplier to make toxin-free food products since she found the harm of chemical contents in food shelves of shops and homes. At a time when farmers are forced to sell their produce at throwaway prices due to exploitation by middlemen and fluctuations in demand, a cooperative society is setting an example by exporting value-added products to foreign countries. The Varappetty Service Cooperative Society at Kothamangalam has started exporting products such as coconut oil, tapioca chips and banana fruit chips under the brand name Varappetty to the US, New Zealand, Australia and Kuwait
