Business Description

Finca Churupampa is a progressive coffee farm in Chirinos, Cajamarca, Peru run be Eber Tocto and his brothers. In addition to selling coffee from their own farm, the Toctos provide export and marketing services for 215 neighboring farmers. The Tocto brothers have continually reinvested in improving the farm's facilities, equipment, and processing and drying methods with a focus on meticulous quality control protocols; the QC team will cup upwards of 4,000 samples in a year! transforming it into a model for economically and environmentally sustainable coffee production. A soil management program is an important aspect of the farm’s operations; the brothers produce compost using a diverse selection of flora gathered from the surrounding forest and use the leftover "miel," or honey, from their fermentation tanks to make fertilizer pellets which help their plants retain water. Just past the fermentation tanks and compost facility, the farm features a fresh water pool and soccer field, built to encourage local youth to spend time at the farm and experience the better quality of life that specialty coffee farming can provide. This facility is aimed at providing training for producers in various areas including processing, cupping, technical assistance, and more. Their success is attributed to their focus on community education and investment. Their sourcing model is built on transparency, traceability and direct relationships between quality-minded coffee roasters and best-in-class coffee producers. Sustainable Harvest® has an on-site presence at origin with staff in Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Peru. Each office coordinates their supply including quality management, supplier relationships, source development, logistics, training and capacity building. Though coffee arrived in Peru in the 1700s, very little coffee was exported until the late 1800s. When coffee leaf rust hit Indonesia in the late 1800s, a country central to European coffee imports at the time, Europeans began searching elsewhere for their fix. Peru was a perfect option. However, with the advent of the two World Wars, England and other European powers became weakened and took a less colonialist perspective. When the British and other European land owners left, their land was purchased by the government and redistributed to locals. The Peruvian government repurchased the 2 million hectares previously granted to England and distributed the lands to thousands of local farmers. Many of these farmers later grew coffee on the lands they received. Most coffee is Fully washed. Cherry is usually pulped, fermented and dried in the sun on raised beds or drying sheds. Drying greenhouses and parabolic beds are becoming more common as farmers pivot towards specialty markets. Cooperative membership protects farmers greatly from exploitation and can make a huge difference to income from coffee. Nonetheless, currently only around 15-25% of smallholder farmers have joined a coop group. Hi there! Thanks for visiting Sucafina Specialty. Business Overview

Avg Response Time

≤ 1h

Most coffee suppliers offer only a few standard products, but FINCA CHURUPAMPA PERU S.A.C lists a wide range including green coffee, raw beans, organic coffee, and robusta — which shows a strong focus on both quality and market flexibility. Organic coffee is in high demand in Europe and North America, so this product line could appeal to buyers looking for sustainable sourcing. The lack of verified phone, work email, account email, and document verification raises red flags about the company's legitimacy and ability to communicate or confirm orders. Buyers should request additional proof, such as a business license or product photos, before placing any large orders. Without team size or revenue data, it's hard to assess the company's operational scale or stability. Still, the detailed product range suggests a focused and potentially reliable niche supplier in the Peruvian coffee market.
