Business Description
Jayanti has its humble beginnings in a Kolkata based tea business started by Jayantilal Shah in the 1940’s. His vision has since transformed into Jayanti, a group of companies with diverse product lines and a global footprint, and has continued to guide Jayanti through its journey into the contemporary times of change and innovation. Jayanti’s operations are spread across the South Indian States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. These regions have a rich heritage of Coffee, Tea and Spice plantations distinctly known for their world-class quality. While bringing the best of Indian flavours to the world, Jayanti attributes its success to the contribution of nature and natives who have nurtured these plantations for more than a century. On1y brand was introduced by Jayanti in 2013, in its endeavour to offer truly international herbs, spice blends and seasoning to the growing global food palate of Indian consumers. - Our saffron is fear-free. Saffron, known as the Golden Spice, is far more than just a culinary treasure – it’s a rare gift from nature, deeply embedded in the ancient traditions of various cultures and a symbol of luxury in the modern world. It takes over 75,000 flowers to produce just one pound, making it both a symbol of exclusivity and a labour of love. At Jayanti Herbs and Spice, we take immense pride in sourcing our saffron directly from the farmers of Kashmir, with a particular focus on supporting women farmers in the region. This approach not only ensures the highest quality spice but also champions women’s rights and helps preserve the livelihoods of local communities. Our partnerships create sustainable income opportunities for women, fostering economic growth and independence. * 🌱 Celebrating World Soil Day at Jayanti Herbs & Spice! 🌱 Today, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing healthy soil – the foundation for regenerative agriculture, flourishing communities, and the production of sustainable and safe herbs and spices. 🔬 Soil Quality Assessment: Conducting thorough soil quality assessments for our third-party suppliers. Let’s Do Better. * 🌿 We are deeply honored to have received the second prize for the "Farm-Level Sustainability Initiative while Sourcing" award from for our Chilli Program in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, India. The interventions that we consistently focused on during the program were: ✅ Building Farmer Capacity ✅ Cost Reduction ✅ Direct Global Market Linkage ✅ Biodiversity Enhancement ✅ Women-Farmer Empowerment It was truly humbling to share the stage with other Food, FMCG and agro-commodity organizations who are equally dedicated to building a more sustainable agricultural future. No matter where you are, Herbs & Spice, often used interchangeably, though distinctly apart, are today an integral part of every cuisine. Distinct aroma, myriad flavours and a riot of colours that they impart to cuisines have redefined tastes and changed food landscapes. Historically, the allure of Spice had led to wars and expeditions; even today chefs continue to dig deeper into Spice Boxes across continents to add a touch of exclusivity to their signature dishes. We understand that the simplest of tasks may need the highest precision to produce high-quality products that adhere to international standards of food safety and hygiene. As farmers, we understand the cropping patterns, sowing months, harvest seasons in different regions of the world, the soil in which they grow best, the fertilizers used and the threat to human health from polluted environment. This seemingly common knowledge is quite uncommon with most companies remaining focused on process specialization rather than engaging in backward and forward integration for controlling the entire value chain from farm-to-table. We have a strong base in India, Vietnam and Turkey, the key origins of Herbs & Spice. Raw material is procured round-the-year as harvesting months across continents differ from each other. Food ingredients can be sterilized using many different methods. We consider Steam Treatment of Herbs & Spice as the safest alternative for reducing microbial contamination without altering the chemical composition of essential oils, attributed to their characteristic taste and aroma. We can perhaps never arrive at an “all exhaustive” range
