Imagine a world without desktop laser printers or laser fax machines, without cell phones or pagers or global positioning, without CD players, CD ROMs or DVD players, and without the combinations of technologies that make up Information Superhighways. All of these technologies have been brought about or enabled by compound semiconductors. Some of the most common compound semiconductor devices include Optoelectronic information technology.
