Smart Chip Technologies (herein referred to SCT), is a family owned corporation operating from a suburb in Cape Town ? South Africa. SCT has been developing and manufacturing electronic consumable lock override devices, in support of the international printer consumables industry for the past 12 years. Our CEO established and operated the mother firm since the early 80?s which quickly grew to be the largest of its nature in the southern hemisphere and most certainly in Africa.SCT started up back in 1999 when Xerox began introducing smart lockout chips on their N32 series of office copiers. At that time, SCT had reason to believe it was the first to develop such products no suppliers could not located anywhere in the world. SCT broke away from the mother company and now continues to develop, expand and distribute our own specialized product range. Currently our products are distributed on every continent of the world. We offer solutions for most printers currently carrying lockout devices but we do tend to specialize in wide format solvent printer products as alternatives are more scarcely available in this market. SCT products are non-patent infringing micro-controller based replacements and will replace OEM (original) counterparts on depleted consumables. More than this, to add an environmental aspect, all FT products are re-usable by field resetting so do not have to be being returned to the factory. Without SCT, many firms in the consumable industry would have to shut their doors so SCT supports a huge industry. SCT is a big supporter of assisting local entrepreneurs to start off and benefit from their own consumables industry thereby creating jobs and keep revenue from leaving their respective countries to rich 1st world countries.
