Business Description
Loskop coal mine is a small anthracite mine situated about 40km from Piet Retie f It has a proven reserve of high grade A anthracite as well as coking coal. The mine consists of opencast mining as well as shaft and pillar mining. 7 shafts have been sunk already and the coal seams are exposed. On the opencast section there is only a stripping ratio of 6:1. Some places the coal seams are exposed in the opencast pits. Mining Contractors have been appointed and we have concluded some off take agreements with buyers but would like to diversify our risk in this regard by approaching more buyers for long term supply contractors. very conservatively we will mine 30 000ton per month for a minimum of 5years. We are currently ready to mobilize the mining contractors within the next 4 weeks to start with phase 1 opencast which will yield in the region of 100 000ton in 3 months.
