Nicolas brings more than 25 years of expertise to the coffee industry. His journey began in Europe and eventually led to the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia.
Before joining Neumann Kaffee Gruppe in 2023, Nicolas spent more than a decade in the coffee-trading division of a multinational commodity house. In his most recent role, he oversaw operations and strategic initiatives in Brazil, Peru, Colombia and the United States, contributing significantly as a key member of the leadership team.
Nicolas’s influence extends beyond executive roles. He has presided over the Council of CECAFE (Brazilian Coffee Exporters Association) and served on the board of Asoexport (Colombian Coffee Exporters Association). Currently, he is an active board member of the National Coffee Association of U.S.A., continuing to shape the future of the coffee industry.
Olaf has worked in green coffee for 30 years. For the last six of these, he’s worked in close collaboration with top NKG leadership, as well as NKG colleagues worldwide.
Olaf began his career in brokerage firms, working with producers, exporters and multinational companies. These experiences provided opportunities to develop managerial skills in Trading, Logistics and Quality, with special responsibilities focused on the Traffic department, origin teams, and organizing and developing budgets and marketing strategies for coffees. He joined the Rothfos team in 2016 as a Senior Trading Manager and soon afterward became head of the Trade desk.
Hailing from Brazil, Olaf possess an essential understanding of this critical market, as well as of the coffee quality spectrum and the global coffee industry.
Thomas Silva joined Neumann Gruppe USA in July 2023 and completed the transition to chief financial officer in February 2024.
Thomas has more than 20 years of experience in Finance and Controlling in commodity-trading businesses including oil, energy, metals, soft commodities and, of course, coffee. Before joining Neumann Gruppe USA, he oversaw finance operations for a green coffee merchant in the United States, Colombia and Brazil.
Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with dual concentrations in Finance and Accounting. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University in Boston and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
In 1994, Khoa was hired by Cargill Coffee as the first trader in its Ho Chin Minh office. He went on to set up a complete trading team, as well as a warehousing operation. In addition to gaining a deep knowledge of the coffee market in Vietnam, Khoa worked closely with the Cargill sister company in Indonesia and came to know that market as well.
Khoa came to the United States in 1999, joining the Cargill coffee team in New Jersey. In 2001, he joined Rothfos Corporation, as a key addition to its Traffic department, and in 2014 moved to its Trading department. As a trader, he was able to streamline the company’s business in Vietnam and build relationships well beyond what was already in place.
Today, he handles the Robusta book at Rothfos, as well as the majority of its Vietnam and Indonesia accounts.
Tom began his coffee career early, enrolling in a dual university program in Germany in which he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Business Economist in Foreign Trade certificate, while apprenticing at J.J. Darboven. At the 150-year old roasting company, which has affiliated brands in eight countries, he was schooled in quality, sourcing and product development, and after completing his studies he was brought on as a purchasing assistant.
In 2010, Tom joined the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) as the assistant to the Board of Management. In this diverse role, he assisted with the realization of various projects, most notably in Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia, as well as helped to develop business plans, market analysis and the strategic growth of the company.
Tom moved to New York City in 2014 and joined the Trading desk of NKG’s Rothfos Corporation, originally assisting with Brazil purchases but today focusing on procurement in Colombia, Guatemala and Peru, as well as of Africa and Asia milds.
Tom is fascinated by coffee, addicted to the world of coffee, and enormously proud to be part of something so relevant, diverse, culturally rich and globally meaningful.
After starting from humble roots in the insurance industry in Ohio, Greg began his career in coffee in 2008 with an internship at a specialty green coffee importer in New York. From there, he moved on to a larger green coffee importer in White Plains, where he worked from 2009–2013, learning the basics of quality, green coffee trading and risk management.
Since the fall of 2013, Greg has been a proud member of the Rothfos Corporation trading desk in New York City, where he specializes in Central America procurement, quality and sales. The worldwide group of NKG companies has provided Greg with a wonderful opportunity to network across coffee-producing regions around the globe and to travel to countries he never thought he would have the opportunity to visit.
In his free time, Greg enjoys spending time in Central Park, brushing up on his Spanish and cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes athletics.
Rich has been with Rothfos Corporation for 26 years — always in Quality Control, and during the last 10 years as head of the department. During his tenure, Rich has traveled throughout Central and South America to become more closely calibrated with the Quality departments of Rothfos sister export companies, as well as Rothfos customers.
Over the last decade, changing tastes have led to an increasing focus on certified coffees and lower-volume, more specialized offerings. “Windows are opening, between each part of the supply chain, that used to be closed,” says Rich. “It makes for much greater transparency in coffee—and more interesting work.”
Rich is a licensed C Grader on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), as well as a licensed Q Grader.
Before joining Rothfos Corporation in January 2021, Chris Schoenhut worked for two years at a specialty green-coffee importer, managing hundreds of domestic and foreign clients. That work included traveling to Colombia and Peru to maintain relationships with exporter partners and earning his license as a Q Arabica Grader.
Today, Chris assists the Rothfos Trade desk in various capacities, including analyzing Trade and Sales data and growing his knowledge of the commercial side of the green-coffee business through establishing new relationships with roasters and exporting partners.
Linda Lin joined Rothfos Corporation in 2020 as Head of Futures and Risk Management, bringing with her more than 20 years of experience in both futures and options.
She began her career in commodities as an intern on the New York Board of Trade in 1998. Linda then spent more than 10 years on the trading floor and became a partner at MBL Commodities, part of East Coast Option Services, before trying her hand in brokerage.
Linda later ventured into the energy commodity derivatives business with ICAP and later at ADM Financial Services as a Relationship Manager for its Softs Desk.
While a lifelong New Yorker, Linda now lives in New Jersey with her partner and two daughters. As someone who enjoys the little things in life, one of her favorite routines is stepping into a neighborhood cafe, longing for the smell and taste of coffee, enjoying the byproduct of what she trades on a daily basis.
Josh has always had a passion for learning about trading, particularly in the areas of risk and futures. Growing up in Puerto Rico, he spent nearly a decade working in his family’s café businesses. This early exposure to business management and coffee influenced Josh’s decision to pursue a degree in International Transportation & Trade from SUNY Maritime College.
After college, Josh gained valuable experience working in various logistics roles for four years, including both customer service and broker-side positions. He later spent two years with Neumann Gruppe USA’s Logistics team before joining Rothfos Corporation in April 2020.
Josh currently works closely with the Futures and Risk Management desk, focusing on reporting different market aspects including settlements, open interest and warehouse-certified stocks.
With a keen interest in market dynamics and a strong background in logistics and trade, Josh brings a unique perspective and dedication to the Rothfos team.
