From hypnotic sounds to a real life rocket lift off – consider your November orbit sorted.
See you Friday sweeties.
We have some spectacular news. A project we’ve been brewing on for quite some time is finally ready for lift off. Together with Wynand Fockink, a famous Amsterdam distillery with 345 years of experience, we have made a new, daring interpretation of genever.
Our collaborative IPA Genever Any Upside Down is distilled from Oedipus’ Gaia. With the beer’s reflections shimmering through the surface, the genever offers a profile with grapefruit, hops, and pine needle flavours. Whether drunk straight up or any upside down, it has a delicate freshness and aromatic twist.
Our worlds also come together in the unique label. For the first time, Wynand Fockink has deviated from their classic design, and instead the label show a great collision. Through the transparent label on the front, the visual fireworks of the rear label shine through bottle, provided with a small secret message. Like a big bang and a small light, this genever radiates infinity.
…and guess what sweeties.
We’re launching this one with a bang 💥 at Oedipus Craft Space on November 14th. Stay tuned on our socials for information on the official lift off of the Any Upside Down. We will be joined by brewers from both Oedipus and Wynand Fockink, and some real space scientists.. see you there.
Check out how the *famous* vloggers from TOPJAW came to visit the Oedipus Craft Space.
There they are! Some of our most beloved beers have made the switch from bottles to cans. Look at them shine ✨

You wouldn’t believe it but Fall is officially here, which means our Madeleine is back! Tonight you can try her again for the first time, fresh from the tank.
Our fall seasonal Madeleine is a 6% bottom fermented Bock beer made with Hallertau Tradition and Spalt hops. In French, you have the saying “C’est ma Madeleine de Proust”. It means that a certain smell or aroma brings back memories. The saying derived from Marcel Proust – the famous French writer – who was reminded of his childhood when he smelled the aroma of the Madeleine butter cake. We had to think of that story when brewing Madeleine.
Madeleine has a very chocolate-like malty character. Besides her soothing caramel and chocolate aromas, Madeleine has a rich palette with toasted flavors. With subtle late and dry hop additions adding some extra herbal and spicy notes to the beer.

In One Beer One Record we invite artists to join us for a show where their favourite songs are paired with surprising drinks. Hoster by Rick Nelson.
This year, to celebrate our collaborative beer TADA, we went to traveling theatre festival Parade in Amsterdam. We talked to Rosa Asbreuk and Kyrian Esser from De Theatertroep, a collective that has been performing at Parade for ten years. This year their show Vaudeville: 10 years was a resume of the best of the worst and worst of the best of all time – from comedy to tragedy, entertaining and intellectual. Current, satirical, absurd, with the occasional dance and a good stumble.
Check them out on: www.theatertroep.nl
Fun songs from their performances and boomers getting us in trouble.
We also talked to Merel Severs of The Drek Manor, a completely unique drag variety show with creatures you will only encounter there. Ranging from polished queens/kings/queers to more experimental drag performers, it’s not just dra, it’s DREK MANOR.
Check them out on: www.instagram.com/thedrekmanor
Very extra show tunes and dark beers.
Our host Rick Nelson sat down and had some more spontaneous interviews with all kinds of characters. He was joined by Oedipus’ Sander Nederveen and Parade’s Leonard van Buitenen to talk about how TADA was developed. Barmanager Pien Koot from the Katrina bar came by to talk about the thousands of TADAs she served and how to maintain good vibes at all times. And last but certainly not least, we discussed the weather with Parade’s Ray van Santen and Oedipus’ Matthijs Booij.
September 13
Free entry
Our One Beer One Record shows will be available online soon. Thanks de Theatertroep & Drek Manor for stopping by 🍻
The Oedipus x Parade beer Tada is available at Parade until this Sunda at the festival.

We’re hosting a One Beer One Record radio show at the Katrina where our host Rick Nelson will talk to special guests de Theatertroep about their favourite tracks and favourite drinks. The floor will also be open to impromptu guests and performers, so there might be some surprises.
Together with Parade we made a beer called TADA. It’s a 5% citrus witbier, made by Oedipus and Parade. It’s light and delightful, and has a nice layer of a fruity, citrussy and slightly tart taste that invites you to dig deeper.
DODO, still going strong for the last few weeks of the hot season.
For our summer seasonal we’ve revived the California common: a classic American style that drinks like a pilsner but tastes like an IPA.
Dodo is a tribute to two beers that launched the US craft beer revolution: Anchor Brewery’s Steam Beer and Liberty Ale. The combination of lager yeast and caramel malts is inspired by Steam Beer, while the use of Cascade hops pays homage to Liberty Ale – the first beer to showcase the grapefruit and citrus flavours that would change the way hops were used forever.
Dodo is hopped to the same levels as these iconic beers – enough for you to appreciate the hops, but not be overwhelmed by them.
Delicious. Don’t let your Dodo overflow tho 🍻

Parade has arrived in Amsterdam, and our Oedipus Craft Space DJ Team is back!
To celebrate our collaborative beer TADA, we host another night at the Katrina.
This Thursday Fininho & DAYZ will lighting up the dance floor from 17:00 – 23:00.

Club Paradise at Lowlands Festival, the premiere the collaboration beer Oedipus and Lowlands made together.
During Lowlands, thousands of people gather, collectively looking for delight, desire and some dancing. And Oedipus and Lowlands wanted to make a beer to capture that feeling. Something fresh and delightful.
It’s a relatively dry white beer (5%) with hoppy citrus flavours and fresh mandarin peel. But much like the festival Lowlands itself, besides giving us big headliners, for those who are curious, Club Paradise also offers much more to discover. Due to an addition of green pepper, this beer might give you a small spicy kick.
Club Paradise represents longing, although it can look different for everyone. Maybe it is a longing for your childhood with carefree summer holidays, a longing for a tropical beach and a coconut with a straw under a parasol, maybe it is a longing for a sweaty crowd at a festival. Whatever it is, in Club Paradise, everyone can find their own.
Club Paradise is exclusively available from 16 – 18 August at Lowlands Festival at the special Oedipus Bar and Bierlokaal.

… that @moutbierfestival Tilburg this weekend was cancelled because all the early summer rain SADly drowned the festival location.
See you next year tho 🐩
We got your back… with a special Mannenliefde sunscreen! As delicious as a Mannenliefde beer, but without the spicy Sichuan pepper, so you won’t get burned and crispy.
You can find this dispenser on the Craft Space terrace, and if you order two Mannenliefde at the bar you can also get a tube for free!
Maybe you already spotted it, but Oedipus and theatre festival Parade made a beer together! It’s available all summer at Parade while they make their way across the country.

At the invitation of Mediamatic, our head brewer Sander Nederveen has been experimenting with trying to concoct something out of Japanese knotweed.
In The Netherlands, the Japanese knotweed is an incredibly invasive plant species. It proliferates wildly across our country, suffocating all planting that surrounds it, and because of its large underground network of roots it is very hard to eradicate.
Every spring, Mediamatic organises a festival around Japanese knotweed to explore its positive properties, including its surprising edibility. For this event Sander picked some knotweed, squeezed all the juice out with a roller press, and made a drinkable juice and syrup.
On Friday, Sander together with artist Henriette Waal will take out their juicer once again for a workshop you can join. And in the afternoon there is a special tasting with some experimental Knotweed-infused beer.

Blurry and buzzy. It was quite something. Thanks everyone for coming. It was the goodest goodbye of all. Pictures by @keltvan.
Because we’re moving soon we’re cleaning out our old archive, and Oedipus founder and head brewer Sander Nederveen found some really special things to share with you :)) Some of which may or may not have expired many moons ago. Still worth a try!
You can find Sander’s Library at the special bar between 17:00 and 19:00, this Saturday 13 April.
Imagine a band that makes images that become songs that become stories that become movies. A band that moves through a myriad of backdrops and colours takes you from one adventure into another, running wild with your imagination until you are happy and exhausted.
That band is Cocobolo.
At our Taproom Farewell Party on 13 April they play at 17:30. Come run with us.<iframe allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" frameborder="0" height="315" loading="lazy" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZPlSGLfrNl4?si=Y225-H4MKWIFzNB9" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe>
All friends, all fun, all for you <3
Converging from all corners of the Latin America, with a local Dutch spice, La Banda Fantástica are the Cumbia heroes we need right now. We can’t wait to see this six piece with their conga set in action.
At our Taproom Farewell Party on 13 April they play at 21:15. Come see if they all fit on our tiny stage!
For their upcoming exhibition I will fight you forever artist Isa Grütter and Mick Johan made a Special Edition Art Can. The artists joined forces and black pencils, and made a collection of sexy, sad and violent drawings that will be on view at Galerie de Schans until May 26.
The can comes in an edition of 500 and contains Oedipus Strip. It is exclusively available at the opening next week Friday 12 April, so make sure to come! From 17:00 at Warmoesstraat 67.
Yeehaa. Whenever we plan an event and think, ahhh what would be a nice band to book, we somewhat jokingly say that in any case, the best band to ask is always *The Homesick* And now here they are.
These Groningen weirdos fuse their post-punk rhythms with melodic whimsical pop and somehow only make great songs. Whatever instruments they touch, and they touch quite a few, together they are always unmistakably, The Homesick.
For our Taproom Farewell Party on 13 April, they have a late shift and start at 23:45. Because this night, they come to dance.
The time has come. We are saying farewell to our home at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 to set course to a new destination.

For the past ten years GH85 has been the heart of our operation. It’s where we have created, learned, matured, failed and flourished. It has truly been a blast, and of course we want to give it a proper sendoff.
On Saturday 13 April, we will celebrate in the long night of cheers, tears & beers, and we would love for you to all be there.
We have a full night of fun planned. Our brewers will dust off things from the archive at the Studio Beer Bar for some awesome trips down memory lane.
There will be live music by three amazing bands: weirdopoppers The Homesick, Cumbia heroes La Banda Fantastica and psychyrockers Cocobolo.
There is food by The Beef Chief, who else, also revisiting some classics,
and you will see many familiar faces in the DJ booth!
Free entry, bring your friends :))
In the meantime, the season turned to Spring and we at Oedipus are too hyped for release of the all-round staff favourite: Remix – our big tasty Keller Bier.
Our spring seasonal Remix is a classic beer in a colourful Oedipus jacket. Just like a musical remix, this beer offers a twist to a traditional style. In this case, the German Keller Bier. Remix is a modern, unfiltered lager with subtle floral and spicy hop aromas and a malty body. The beer is refermented with a young actively fermenting beer, and has been bottled a while ago, waiting patiently for its perfectly timed comeback. Which is now!
Leading up to the Remix release, our colour & design studio has been reimagining the beer label and added a new holographic dimension to the design, well fitted for this beer. It’s not fizzy, fuzzy or fussy. But it 𝘪𝘴 shiny & delish.
Last week we had a little family party for the release because Remix is best drunk fresh and in good company.
To celebrate we had a love parade with our team in their new Craft Space suits. Also marking the impending move of our brewery and taproom. We walked from our soon-to-be-headquarters back to the taproom in a colourful dance procession, annoying many of our neighbours. But all in good spirits.
Remix is our spring seasonal, available for only three months, so get it while you can.
The big news of the year 02024 is that the Oedipus Spacecraft will soon set course to the Oedipus Craft Space. Yes yes, we are moving. If that makes you wonder whether you should start saving up for a spacesuit, and if you would even look good in orange: the answers are yes and you’ll look fabulous.
Our current digs at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 have served us well over the past 10 years (!), but with the expansion of the brewery, our beer portfolio and our human team, we have come to outgrow it. A large part of our operation has already been managed from the new location for a while, and we just started missing each other too much. It’s time to reunite.
Take off is planned for the end of April*, and landing shortly after. But like a trip to the International Space Station may take either six hours or three days, it’s all dependent on the weather
